What to do about carpal tunnel syndrome?
The best carpal tunnel syndrome therapy for pain relief. Natural treatment with no side effects.
Step 1: The night splint
In conventional therapy, a night splint is often recommended. This is intended to prevent the hand from involuntarily twisting while sleeping. It is important to only wear the splint at night, as otherwise the wrist may become stiff. However, discomfort and sleep disturbances are often reported. The splint does not affect the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome in the long term, as the pressure on the median nerve remains unchanged.
Step 2: The operation
If the symptoms do not improve and the numbness in the hands and pain persist, surgery is often considered after a few weeks or months. This involves cutting the carpal ligament and widening the nerve canal. The operation can be performed openly or minimally invasively (endoscopically) and carries the usual surgical risks.
Risks of Carpal Tunnel Surgery
The surgery carries the risk of injuring the median nerve when severing the carpal ligament, which may result in persistent pain after surgery.
Successful alternative – curpal® therapy
curpal® therapy offers a long-awaited alternative to the traditional treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.
The treatment approach of curpal®
- Carpal tunnel is stretched and widened: Mechanically generated pressure on the back of the hand stretches the transverse carpal ligament on the palm of the hand and widens the carpal tunnel.
- Pressure on the nerve is reduced: The widened carpal tunnel offers the nerve more space and reduces the pressure that caused pain and discomfort.
- Pain and tingling subside: The pain disappears or decreases significantly. If necessary, the carpal tunnel can be stretched again with curpal®.
Application of curpal®
The hand is inserted into the device and the air cushion is gradually inflated using a hand pump. This process is repeated three times in a row, three times a day. This stretches the carpal tunnel slowly and steadily. Most patients notice significant improvements after just a few weeks.
